What do you think of when you hear the word genesis? Do you think of the first book of the bible, or do you think of what the word actually means? Genesis simply means beginning or new start. The fact you are looking at this website and reading this blog, you are witnessing my genesis. The creation of this web page is because of the EP that’s being released. I started singing when I was a small child, about 3 or 4 years old. I have sung in church choirs and praise teams most of my life and sung solos at weddings and funerals. I was in my high school chorus for 3 years and sang in a group, but to be at this point of recording/releasing an EP is very new for me. It has opened up a whole new world that I never knew existed. I certainly never thought I would be a part of it!
New beginnings can be exciting and overwhelming at the same time. This place, where I am now, is just that. For more than 30 years, it has been my desire to record just to check it off my bucket list and move on. Being in the studio has been exhilarating!! At first, I was a little nervous because the thought of it all was daunting. However, after the 3rd or 4th time behind the mic, I began to settle into it and enjoy the process.
Each song on the EP is original. They came from a place of personal, intimate worship, and each has a unique sound. It is one thing to hear a “new” song acapella (my rough vocals) but hearing them with all instruments added took me to a different level of excitement that cannot be described. I am undoubtedly Free Indeed! This genesis has added the titles of entrepreneur, songwriter, artist and author to my list of credentials. Only God knew that would happen.
Let me remind and encourage you that it is never too late to pursue your dreams. Whatever is in your heart, go for it! Once you take the first step, pray for divine connections to accomplish whatever it is, and things will fall into place for you to finish well!
